Mentors and their role in the Premarital Program
Mentors play a key role in our Pre-marriage program by walking beside their assigned couple, guiding them through potentially challenging waters and being transparent about their own walk as a married couple. Mentors are not expected to have the perfect marriage but it is expected that they have a God centered marriage. Mentors encourage discussion between the couple about those areas that may cause disagreements and conflict and where appropriate suggest ideas to help in the transition from being single to becoming one. Ultimately all discussions point to the Lord and His design for their relationship.
Potential mentor couples would be expected to meet with the Pastor of Marriage to explore how they might best be used. Training is provided for those mentors who enter the program. As a mentor couple you could expect to be assigned one couple a year. We ask that you meet with your couple at least four times to complete the review of the course work. Meetings typically last 1-1/2 to 2 hours. You mutually determine when and where you will meet. IF your couple chooses to get married we ask that you meet with them two additional times during their first year of marriage.
