Missionary Care Team: Advocates and Home Teams

Caring for the Lord's Workers: 3 John 1:5-8 -
"Dear friend, you are being faithful to God when you care for the traveling teachers who pass through, even though they are strangers to you. They have told the church here of your loving friendship. Please continue providing for such teachers in a manner that pleases God. For they are traveling for the Lord, and they accept nothing from people who are not believers. So we ourselves should support them so that we can be their partners as they teach the truth."

The Advocate is typically one person or a couple who:

  • Prays for the missionary
  • Promotes the ministry among his/her circles of influence (small church, LIFE group, in-home gatherings, etc.)
  • Serves as a liaison between the missionary and COS
  • Develops a "home team" who will support the missionary
  • Connects missionaries to available resources from our church and in our region
  • Corresponds with the missionary on a regular basis
  • Provides informal accountability

The Home Team is comprised of a number of people who:

  • Pray for the missionary
  • Communicate regularly with them
  • Send "care packages" (Favorite foods and items; birthday cards; music; reading materials; etc.)
  • Assist in the re-entry process during home assignment

If you would like more information on joining the Care Team, a COS Home Team for one of our missionaries, or what that means, please contact COS, 610-688-6338, x294.
