Guatemala Short-Term Missions Trip
This year's Guatemala Short-Term Missions trip is July 14th to July 21st. Once again, we will be partnering with Potter's House, a ministry who helps to serve the people who live around and work in the garbage dump of Guatemala City. In past trips, we've installed wood burning stoves, painted community walls, assisted in the medical clinic, and provided basic food necessities to those in need. This year, depending on the size of the group, we hope to assist again in the medical clinic, install some more stoves, but if the size is right, our hope is to build a deserving family a new house. At the same time, while we are there working in the neighborhoods, we get to share the love and the Word of Jesus Christ to those we come in contact with.
Hold a Medical Clinic ~ Build a House ~ Install Stoves ~ Refurbish Houses ~ Lead a Business Session ~ Organize a Children's Party ~ Host a VBS ~ Pour Concrete Floors ~ Paint Community Walls

Our typical trip usually costs around $1,500, but due to higher airfare costs, the cost will probably be higher, somewhere in the area of $1,800. Don't let the cost turn you away for taking part in a worthwhile trip. In past trips, most of our members have been able to raise the entire financing for their trip through generous donors who supported them in their efforts. Sample donor letters are available for you to use. Our trip begins with a 5 hour non-stop flight on Saturday, the 14th, out of Newark, NJ, arriving in Guatemala City in the afternoon. From there, we get settled into our lodging for the week and then have a wonderful dinner at a restaurant overlooking the city. On Sunday, after breakfast, we head to a church in downtown, then after that, it's off to tour Antigua, the old capital city of Guatemala. While there, we will lunch at the beautiful Porta Hotel Antigua, then tour the ancient city. Beginning on Monday, the work begins. From building houses, to installing stoves, to painting walls, to pouring concrete floors, to working in medical clinics, there is something for everyone to do. Throughout the week, while we are working on the various projects, we also get to play with the children who attend the tutoring program at Potter's House. You can't help but make new friends as these children tend to work their way into your heart. On Saturday, the 21st, we'll be returning home, tired yet spiritually encouraged. Whether you're a doctor, nurse, teacher, engineer, electrician, business executive, bus driver, stay at home parent, whatever it is you do, there is something for everyone to do. Please consider joining us this year for our trip to Guatemala. This trip is for adults (18 and older), and children (13 and over) accompanied by a parent. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me at lhhanby@verizon.net, or by phone, 610-772-4026. As in the past, this trip will require a $250 deposit as we try to latch onto lower airfares as they fluctuate from week to week.
