Our Elders

Church of the Saviour believes in having a plurality of elders to shepherd and serve the church body. Our elders are expected to meet the qualifications layed out in the books of 1 Timothy and Titus. Their role in the church is to shepherd, teach and serve the Body of Christ. Here is a list of those currently serving as Elders.

Ed Pieters

Ed grew up in a small town in Nebraska and married his high-school sweetheart, Renae, almost 43 years ago. They have two children, Anne and Matt, who with their spouses and children live in the Philadelphia area. They moved numerous times during their early years of marriage due to the military, graduate schools and corporate employment, but for the last 25 years have lived in Newtown Square. They became members of Church of the Saviour over 20 years ago, and Ed has served as an elder for most of that time. By design, most of the ministries that he has been involved in at Church of the Saviour were those that allowed both he and Renae to serve together, such as for the new members class, prayer groups, Right Start, home groups, short-term missions and, most recently, Alpha. His favorite pastimes are jogging, reading and gardening. He really enjoys being a grandparent, hearing his son and son-in-law preach the word of God, attending the Friday morning Bible study led by Dave Balch, and experiencing the movement of the Holy Spirit in Alpha.
