Community Life
Community Life at Church of the Saviour
Community is great! If we are going to understand and live out our faith, we take it seriously and build it into everything we do as a church. While COS may feel large and complicated, it is quite simple if you see it as a group of people who are trying to figure this Christian life thing out.
As you look into community at COS, here are a few good places to start:
Sunday Morning and Evening
We have three morning worship services every Sunday. Many people will attend a class or serve in a ministry during one worship service time and attend worship during another, strengthening their connection with God and our community throughout the morning. There is also a worship team led service (The Vine) on Sunday evenings.
Core (high school age), Blast (middle school age), and Children’s (including nursery) ministries have fun and creative programs for kids of all ages during the two later morning services, making each Sunday morning special for the entire family.
Sunday morning is also when our adult Sunday school classes meet. These groups come together for Bible study in committed friendship and encouragement for one another. There are a number of these groups meeting during the 9:30 and 11:00 services. More information can be found at the information tables in the Welcome Center and the foyer of the church.
Small Groups
We meet as a community outside of Sundays also. Most of those who call COS their home find their way into small groups of 4-14 people. These are great places to make friends and discover what Christianity looks like on a practical level. They afford the opportunity not just to listen to what the Bible says, but to discuss and wrestle with its meaning in everyday life. More info >>
Membership
We encourage all who are ready to join us in partnership as we seek to be a blessing to our community, our region and our world. The commitment of membership builds a strong and effective community of believers. The New Members class is a great place to learn of our vision, mission, make friends and to begin the process of joining us in partnership. In the class you will meet pastors, ministry leaders and elders individually. More info >>
Serving Teams
Volunteers accomplish most of the work that gets done at COS. We join together in teams and build friendships along the way. Many of us must spend a lot of time on our paying jobs and we don’t get to choose what we do or for what purpose. When we serve together at COS, we usually get to do something we enjoy: as we do, we do it for God and for each other.
We have opportunities for members old and new and for regular attenders as well. Serving together is a great way to start getting connected with others in our church community. More info >>
