Community Life
What Does a Small Group Leader Do?
Small Group leadership is dynamic! Leaders are regularly drawing their people together in community. In the context of community, a group will connect to encourage one another, grow in Christ together, and serve one another and others together. The ongoing health of a group is dependant upon the dynamic interaction of these three elements of the ministry.
-
Connect
Leaders model and lead the process of community building for the group. Healthy groups will come together in regular meetings as well as social times and in more informal smaller get-togethers as relationship deepen, and friendships grow. Leaders will also look for opportunities outside of the group to help others make connections in the church as a whole. This is a great article about keeping a mindset of connecting with others in the community as a whole.
-
Grow
Leaders model and lead the growth of Christian maturity for the group. Leaders may also disciple someone so that they then start another small group, reaching out to others in the community.
-
Serve
Leaders model and lead service to one another, our community and the world by encouraging the living out a purpose beyond itself. This can take any number of forms, from local service projects to getting involved in worldwide missions. Our goal, as Christian believers, is to advance the gospel through actively loving our neighbors. As small group leaders, we encourage and lead our groups in achieving this goal.
